In the current Covid-19 pandemic, the provision of affordable support through online counselling, is a key consideration for me. In response to this, I am reducing my fees in line with my promotional offer on my website; but extending this to include ongoing sessions, to enable access in these difficult times, to I hope, more of you. Please contact me to discuss this.

My values and passion for counselling:
I believe that counselling is a powerful tool, to support all of us, when faced with life's challenges.
For the counselling process to be effective I strongly believe the most important thing within counselling, is the relationship between us.
The building of trust between us is really important, so you feel safe to explore your feelings and emotions freely and to feel understood.
It is important to recognise building trust cannot be rushed, this often takes some time. With this in mind, the first few sessions are likely to be a time where you will be assessing our relationship, looking to see if it feels comfortable or not, whilst beginning to share your worries and concerns.
About me:
I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor; having studied 3 main approaches to counselling work. These were person-centred/humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapies.
Before I became a counsellor I had a 20 year career in general nursing, where I worked with people in distress, due to a range of health conditions. I therefore have a good understanding of the impact physical health issues can have on a persons life and the lives of friends and families.
In between nursing and this role as a counsellor, I worked in a further education college supporting students on Health and Social Care Courses. In this role I supported students managing issues such as stress and anxiety; as well as supporting their educational achievements. I also acted as a coach for students on a leadership course.

Therapists Information
Counselling / therapy models / approaches:

The way I work is dependent on your needs and the issues you are bringing to counselling. Please visit my website for more information about me and the services I provide:

Special Interests:

Loss, bereavement and relationship challenges, are areas that I have a particular interest in; but I work with many issues day to day like anxiety, depression, low self esteem etc. Sometimes people come to counselling because they are unsure what is wrong and want to explore this. I am happy to support this exploration and support you to find out what is affecting you in your life.

Face to face training:

I trained with Chrysalis Courses. This involved study over 3 and a half years.
I achieved the Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice / AIM Award Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in April 2019.

I achieved BACP certificate of proficiency and became a registered member in September 2019.

Part of my counselling training was in a placement working with clients with a range of issues. I have continued volunteering since qualifying, to continue providing therapeutic counselling.

I have completed the Cruse Bereavment Care Foundation Course, as I have an interest in this field of work and I started as a listening volunteer with Cruse, in August 2019.

I will be undertaking training in Counselling for Couples in the autumn.

Online training:

I have achieved the OSCT2 Diploma in Online Counselling Skills. Tutor and Assessor: Jane Evans: Online Counselling and Supervision Training.

Professional organisation memberships :

Registered member of the BACP - 379281
Member of ACTO.

Code of Ethics adhered to:

BACP code of ethics.

Experience of working online:

I have been through training to ensure I am able to work effectively using the online mediums. As a trainer previously I have worked with various IM platforms and used email extensively. In the past month I have been working with clients using Zoom Webcam and this has been well received as positive.

My medium of choice, as it mirrors face to face work more closely; is using webcam via zoom platform. However I also find email very useful for some issues as it supports effective reflection, which can be very useful. IM is also very valuable for people, particularly where it is less easy to find a private space for a webcam session.

Current promotional/offer: sessions at £25 for at least the first 4 sessions. This is instead of the £35 per session. If affordable in this current climate then the fee can be increased after the 4th session. We will look at this on an individual basis. Payment via PayPal email request.
The phone consultation is completed first after I receive your enquiry; which is 30mins long and is fee of charge.
