I focus on the healing of inner systems through Self-leadership. The defences you have built around your vulnerability have served you to survive. Connecting to your inner parts and processes in a creative and caring dialogue brings awareness of who you really are and—finally—also healing. This is the essence of what is called Internal Family Systems Therapy; but it is also the core of Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry. I would like to facilitate this inner process. In the first video session we would try to find out if we can work with each other, if online counselling is the right way for you and how we can proceed. And we take it from there…
Counsellor, Psychotherapist, EMDR Accredited Practitioner, Supervisor and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist
Description of my online supervision service:
My name is Donna Makhsous, BSc. BA hons.
If you have found me on here then you are considering therapy to help you move forward. Congratulations, you have taken the first step. Whether you would like to work with me or another therapist I am pleased that you are considering working through the issues of your past.
I am a person centred counsellor. I believe that you are the expert in your own life. I am not here to make judgements nor demands, nor am I here to presume that I know what is best for you. Its my job to offer you a place where you are safe and comfortable enough to start looking at the things in your life that are stopping you move forward.
I have experience in working with Sexual Violence and Trauma. I am aware that revisiting these traumas may induce fear. You have lived through this fear at least once, I will not drag you back there. I will however walk gently with you, to find a safe place to view how they affect your life today. Many symptoms of trauma, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem are due to the fact that we had no control over the event: or often we believe we had control and made the wrong choice. Due to this, I can promise you that I will not take the control of your healing away. I will do my best to empower you to embrace that power again.
I am an HCPC registered Art Therapist also trained to work online and face to face with adults and children as well as a member of BACP and a Fellow of the RSA. I have experience working with adults in the community for the NHS as well as voluntary work with charities and with children in primary schools.
Sessions and treatment are planned to meet your individual emotional, therapeutic and basic ‘being’ needs before working on any life experiences or difficulties.
What does meeting being needs look like?
Ways to regulate emotions – to relax, feel calm and self sooth
Ways to keep and feel safe
The experience of being with another, being heard.
Once safety, trust are established we can look to process experiences and difficulties you may be facing.
Life can have times of challenge. I am here to provide a supportive place for you to build your resilience and discover the resources that may feel hidden within yourself.
To feel comfortable to be creative and to be able to explore, I know that you need to feel secure and safe with me. Building trust can take time, but it is the foundation of a ‘good enough’ relationship in therapy. I work to ensure your security online as I am a trained online therapist, and I also train other psychotherapists and counsellors to work securely online.
I specialise in the following areas:
I also train therapists to work online with The Academy and am the Vice-Principal of the Academy for Online Counselling and Therapy, AOCT. I really enjoy training other therapists to work securely online and for them to discover their creativity in the online setting.
I am also a Director with responsibility for Children and Young People for the Board of Directors of the Professional body, The Association for Counsellors and Therapists Online, ACTO.
My professional body is the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP membership number 00682449)

Hi, I'm Vauna. I've been seeing clients since 2002.
My Masters degree is in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, and I also have studied and practised other models of therapy since I became a CTA in 2006.
I went on to gain expertise in other models because some things are understood or explained in different ways between the models of therapy, and this variety has given me a depth to my ways of understanding people, and in my abilities to work effectively and arrive at good results for my clients. The models of therapy that inform my work, in addition to Transactional Analysis, are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and Neuro-linguistic programming.
I care deeply that people are in pain when they first come to therapy, and that they want to be relieved of the pain and not have it happen again.
We talk about your situations and work out what are the right paths to follow in our conversations to address the things that matter and to work together to enable you to overcome these difficulties. The answers could include seeing more clearly what the issues are, understanding how you have found yourself here, connecting with what matters and accepting some things, or changing other things.

I am a BACP Accredited counsellor and Certified Cyber Therapist offering counselling to adults, children and young people.
I’ve been a therapist for 13 years and have worked in a variety of settings and services for adults, children and young people. I’ve worked with adults for a mental health charity, Employee Assistance Programmes, Private Health Insurance Providers and schools. I am a registered provider for Bupa, Aviva, AXA and Vitality Health.
I’ve worked in primary and secondary schools and often see children and young people who are on CAMHS waiting lists. I’m a preferred provider with the Local Authority providing counselling to Looked After Children in foster care and semi-independent living.
I have a particular interest in trauma and am trained in EMDR with adults, young people and children. I am also trained in the Flash Technique. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful therapy designed to help people recover from traumatic events in their lives. EMDR is recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
