There are times in life when you may feel that you don't have anyone to turn to. You perhaps feel that family or friends may judge you if you talk to them about your problems or express certain feelings. Talking to a Counsellor may help take this pressure away. I can provide you with the space to be free to open up, in confidence, and express these feelings in a safe environment.
I offer my counselling services to adults and young people individually or as couples. I am a qualified experienced Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist offering a warm friendly service, supporting each person's individual needs working with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship, anger, self-harm, self-esteem and work related issues.
I can offer you an empathetic, non-judgemental service in a safe environment where we can work together allowing you to talk and express yourself freely through a variety of tools and theoretical models.

As you are here, I expect that something in your life is feeling difficult and its impacting what it's feeling like to be you right now. Maybe you are feeling anxious, stressed, confused, down or out of control and might feel like it's difficult to be in relationships with other people. You may be noticing that you want to change some of the ways you have dealt with these feelings and experiences in the past. I can help you to make sense of what’s happening and find ways to feel better about yourself.
I have seen, both as a client and as a therapist that, by talking with a therapist who feels like the right fit, the way we think and feel about ourselves can change and life and relationships can improve. Choosing a therapist you can talk to is essential to understanding the challenges you may be facing. My aim is to support you in the process of therapy and personal change.
As well as my private practice, I have worked in low cost counselling and as a student counsellor in Higher Education. I continue to work as a university counsellor, as well as in private practice. These experiences have meant that I have worked with people from all walks of life who have experienced a range of life experiences that bought them to therapy. I work with people using brief therapy (where we work together on a specific issue for an agreed number of sessions), as well as in an open-ended way where we begin the work and have regular review points. When you are ready to end therapy, we will work towards this together.
As an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I offer person-centred, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and personal development coaching in a relaxed and supportive environment, either face to face in my practice room, or remotely by telephone, webcam or email - whichever works best for you.
My website provides a wealth of information: https://www.arboretumcounselling.com/
I work with both short term interventions and long term support depending on your requirements. I will work alongside you in a non-judgmental, confidential, empathic way which will allow you the time and space to make sense of and face whatever issues you have to enable you to move forward.

I am a friendly and fully qualified counsellor committed to providing a confidential and non-judgemental environment. I am an Accredited and Registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have 10 years of experience in working with a diverse range of clients, including people who identify as LGBTQ+. For me, the heart of counselling is a good relationship between client and counsellor. This helps to create a safe and respectful setting for exploration, reflection and understanding of what is important to you.
As we are all individual and unique, people will naturally need different things from counselling. I use an integrative, person-centred approach which means that we can work together in a way which best suits you, drawing from different techniques which will support you through the process of counselling. I will help you to reflect and explore to find your own solutions and your own methods of overcoming challenges.
I believe that counselling should be completely non-discriminatory. As an essential part of this belief I work with a LGBTQ+/GSRD affirmative approach. I am also sensitive to issues surrounding BAME communities, race, ethnicity and culture as well as individuals’ religious beliefs. I am an Accredited member of the BACP and I am on their Register of Practitioners. I also adhere to their ethical framework for good practice, attend regular professional supervision and ensure I take part in continuing professional development training.
I offer an initial session at a reduced rate. This is for us to discuss what has brought you to counselling and what your expectations of it are, as well as for you to be able to raise any questions or concerns you may have about counselling. It will also be a chance for us to see if we will be comfortable working together. Sessions will then be arranged for a regular time each week. I provide both long and short term counselling.
- Sessions are on Zoom and are available Weekdays.
- Start times are from 10 am through to 8:30 pm start time in the evenings.
- I see adults individually, and couples.
Hi, I'm Vauna. I've been seeing clients since 2002.
My Masters degree is in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, and I also have studied and practised other models of therapy since I became a CTA in 2006.
I went on to gain expertise in other models because some things are understood or explained in different ways between the models of therapy, and this variety has given me a depth to my ways of understanding people, and in my abilities to work effectively and arrive at good results for my clients. The models of therapy that inform my work, in addition to Transactional Analysis, are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and Neuro-linguistic programming.
I care deeply that people are in pain when they first come to therapy, and that they want to be relieved of the pain and not have it happen again.
We talk about your situations and work out what are the right paths to follow in our conversations to address the things that matter and to work together to enable you to overcome these difficulties. The answers could include seeing more clearly what the issues are, understanding how you have found yourself here, connecting with what matters and accepting some things, or changing other things.
