Whatever you’re facing, you don’t need to be all alone with it. A trusting relationship with an empathetic counsellor can be the first step towards healing. I offer a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings. When we’re overcome with grief, anxiety, or other overwhelming states, being deeply heard can be very healing. Counselling can give you greater clarity about yourself, your relationships, and your strengths. I’m a psychodynamic therapist, which means I’m attentive to how your past may be affecting your present. I seek to facilitate your own, unique, journey towards being authentically yourself in the world.
Looking for a counsellor can be daunting. It’s important to find a therapist you feel you can build a trusting relationship with. I offer a free 15-minute consultation if you'd like to chat about how I might be able to help you. As a psychodynamic counsellor, I listen for how your past experiences might be being triggered or re-enacted in the present. If we can start to identify and resolve past hurts, we can more easily see when we’re unconsciously reacting to the past and repeating old patterns. And then we become more able to make new, conscious, choices in life.
Alongside talking therapy, I can work with you to understand how your body may be expressing or holding on to emotions that can’t always be put into words. Therapy goes at your own pace. By being gently accompanied in exploring your inner world, you can better discover who you are, and ways to contend with what’s impacting you.
I have worked with depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, bereavement, spiritual questions, relationship difficulties and low self-esteem. My interests include: chronic illness (particularly ME/CFS), caring, belonging and identity, infertility and adoption. I love the creative possibilities of online counselling, and find this way of working can be deeply meaningful for my clients.
I am committed to providing a safe and nurturing therapeutic space for all clients, regardless of ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other consideration. As well as working privately, I am a volunteer counsellor with CrossReach in Scotland.
