Applying for ACTO Professional Membership Status
If you can answer yes to all of the following, you are eligible to apply for ACTO Professional Membership with the use of the title ‘ACTO Professional Member’.
- Have you successfully completed a minimum of a ONE year full time or TWO year part time counselling and/or psychotherapy Diploma, delivered face to face, which includes a supervised placement as an integral part of the course and is recognised by the BACP, UKCP, BPS or other professional membership body? (If your professional body is not one of those three we may have to make extra checks before processing your application).
- Have you successfully completed an online counselling training with one of the ACTO-approved online training providers?
- Are you a member of a professional body that has an official complaints procedure (e.g. BACP, UKCP, BPS) and can supply proof, when renewing ACTO membership, of continuing membership of that professional body? (If your professional body is not one of those three we may have to make extra checks before processing your application).
Please be aware that if you are applying to be placed on the supervisors’ directory, ACTO no longer advertises supervisors who are not qualified in online supervision. We are in the process of revising our policies and processes to create a route for those already advertising to attain online training. Supervisors who have online supervision training will be highlighted on the directory.
