Chair’s Report

Dear ACTO Members,

It gives me great pleasure to write this annual report.  The ACTO Board of Directors have worked incredibly hard over the last year and achieved a great deal.  Please remember that the work of the Directors is entirely unpaid, and undertaken in conjunction with a range of other roles in their lives.

At the forefront of all the Board’s work is how each project and decision will benefit you, the members, as well as moving the field of online therapy forward in new and exciting directions.

Significant projects to note are the development of CORE Net for ACTO members; the creation of a rich and growing social media presence; ACTO’s thriving working groups (research and development and Children and Young People); an evolving database of information to support therapists working with clients across the world; and progress with the creation of online guidelines in conjunction with the BACP and UKCP.

Importantly ACTO has employed Anne Frost as a paid administrator to support the work of the voluntary Directors.  This has been a wise and invaluable use of ACTO’s funds, as she has created streamlined processes, bringing many years’ experience at high levels in international organisations, to ensure that ACTO’s business runs smoothly.

A significant change that the Board has been working on for many months, and is delighted has recently come to fruition, is the overhaul of the therapists’ and supervisors’ directories.  The Board recognises that these are a core reason for members joining ACTO and are very pleased that you are now able to take advantage of vastly improved usability, the option to upload a video, improved search functioning, and to open your listing with a personal message to help grab the attention of a prospective client or supervisee.

All it leaves me to do now is give a huge thank you to all the Directors.
